Please remember that for international students to obtain a study permit and to be allowed registration at South African academic institutions it is compulsory to provide proof of medical cover with a South African registered medical scheme.
Suremed Health is a registered Medical Scheme and
may be used by foreign students to satisfy medical cover requirements
for study visa purposes. Suremed Health was established in 1970 and is
financially sound with funding reserves of 68 %. Medical schemes are required
by law to hold at least 25% in reserves and Suremed comfortably exceeds
this requirement, in fact no other scheme offering health products specifically
for the international student market has reserves as large as this.
